About Mary’s House Designs

Angela is the artist behind Mary's House Designs and she creates sweet and colourful illustrated fine art prints, gifts and stationery. Inspiration is drawn from nature, daydreaming and storytelling across the collections of cards, prints, stationery and gifts- you will see repeated natural elements, the written word and imaginative, playful elements too. She works from her studio in a former Victorian cutlery works in Sheffield, UK.

As a print-maker Angela is a natural mark-maker and she uses a black pen to draw, ink and watercolour to paint, and combines these with collage to create the work - each design begins its life as an individual hand drawn and painted artwork which can then be applied across products including art prints for the home, stationery and homeware. In her work she expresses her love of nature and uses stories, poems and her imagination to create each piece.

Being aware of the environment is an essential part of Mary’s House Designs ethos; every single card is printed on recycled or FSC card, envelopes are made from recycled paper and wraps are made from recyclable polypropylene. Angela’s wrapping paper is printed using eco-friendly vegetable dyes and on to recycled paper too. There is no use any foils or glitter in the products as are not able to be recycled or made in an environmentally friendly way. All wooden frames are sourced from sustainable and managed forests and white frames are made from composite recycled plastics. It is something that is taken seriously.

Angela's work is stocked in independent retailers and galleries across the country as well as online retailers. She is also a supporter of Just a Card, a campaign organised to encourage people to buy from artists, designers and independent shops and galleries.
